Drupal 7 modules for social networking

Drupal social networking modules

Whether you run an online shop or want to present your creative portfolio, today site promotion is hardly possible without social networks.

To make your site visible you need to complement good SEO practices (see our recommended list of SEO-enhancing Drupal modules) with social networking, and there are some Drupal modules to help you with it:

Comment notify module: sends notifications about new published comments both to registered and anonymous visitors to your site. It helps to bring back the visitors, turn them into registered ones and increase site traffic. A very useful tool for blogs.

Service links module: provides customizable buttons and widgets for major social networks. You can select and sort them, choose how and where they are displayed and even add your own icons. This module includes many services: del.icio.us, Facebook (share/like), Google Plus One, LinkedIn, Reddit, StumbleUpon, Twitter, and many more (over 70 social services as of today).

ShareThis module: like the Service links module above this one also provides buttons for social networks (though fewer of those comparing to Service links), and in addition it also shows the counter/statistics, i.e. how many users shared your content in Twitter, Facebook and other networks.

Twitter module: connects your website with your Twitter account (s) to grab tweets and display them on your site. It also allows logging in to your Drupal site via Twitter.

Facebook Connect module: allows visitors to log in to Drupal website with their Facebook login and password. With this module users can see which of their Facebook friends have an account on this Drupal website and invite friends to create one.
